As it stands some may find the price point of the videogame a bitter pill to swallow, but for those who dreamed of a truly immersive role-playing experience, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR is simply the best opportunity available today.
It doesn’t look as crisp or detailed as last years’ Special Edition on PS4. But with the newly added immersion, especially if you invest the time to get into the Move controls, this is one of the best VR experiences out there - it definitely is the content richest. Skyrim hasn’t been as intense and interesting since its premiere six years ego.
Virtual reality breathes new life into an already excellent campaign. While you’ll have probably seen everything that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR has to offer before, you’ll never have seen it quite like this: vast, varied, and like an actual living, breathing place. Bethesda’s proven that blockbusters can make the transition to PlayStation VR – and on this evidence, it’s something we’d like to see happen more often.
Playing Skyrim VR showed me the future of virtual reality. It reignited my love for PlayStation VR, and it brought me closer to a world that holds a special place in my heart. Yes, it still has some bugs, and on one occasion I noticed a frame rate drop that took me out of the moment, but these things aren’t what I remember from my numerous hours in the game thus far.
Skyrim VR is not only the best game on PlayStation VR and a reason to buy the headset on its own, but it’s also a crowning achievement for virtual reality as a whole.
Skyrim released today on Playstation VR. The VR version manages to capture the game’s scale and beauty in astounding new ways, but you might need to equip a barf bag alongside your ancient nordic axe.

Unfortunately, even on my PS4 Pro, Skyrim VR doesn’t look as good as the Special Edition that hit PS4, Xbox One and PC last year, but that’s to be expected from a VR game. It looks good enough that you can lose yourself in the world, and that’s really all that matters. If you have a PS VR, Skyrim VR is a must-buy this holiday season.
